Gate Cse Preparation

Gate exam gives us another chance to go IITs. Many PSU's hire on the basis of Gate. But there is very less or no vacancy for Cse branch.

Some FAQs regarding engineering branches:

Q1) Which engineering branches are          eligible for Gate?
Ans. Each and Every branch

Q2) Can Ece students appear for Gate in      Cse?
Ans. Yes. Any branch students can appear the exam in any branch (either same branch or different branch). 

Q3) Is there any limitations if we take the exam in any other branch?
Ans. Yes. If you are taking the exam in any other branch than yours, then you are not eligible for PSU's. There is no limitation if you want to join IITs.

When should i start preparing for Gate?

Early in 3rd year or 5th sem is the most ideal time to start preparing for Gate.

You can also start in the very 2nd year.

How should i prepare for Gate?

  • Self study books:

  • Nptel video lectures will be helpful. It is a little laborious, You may skip this.
  • Practise previous years papers.

How much time should i give for preparation?

Depends on individual. I will say "Study till you get satisfied".

How much important is Coaching for excelling in Gate Exam?

Coaching may be helpful in reducing your efforts and nothing else. Self Study will be a better choice.

A Catch in placement stats you must know.. You must have seen that most of the Engineering Colleges in India show their placement percentage to be close to 100%. But most of them play a trick while giving the placement details. See below:    What we think,  Placement percentage = (Number of students placed / Total number of students) * 100% How Engineering Colleges calculate, Placement percentage = (Number of offers/ Total number of students) *100% There are many students with multiple offers (even that may be above 5).  Let us see an example,      Let us assume a college which have 200         students.
