A Catch in placement stats you must know..

You must have seen that most of the Engineering Colleges in India show their placement percentage to be close to 100%. But most of them play a trick while giving the placement details. See below:
  

What we think,

 Placement percentage = (Number of students placed / Total number of students) * 100%

How Engineering Colleges calculate,

Placement percentage = (Number of offers/ Total number of students) *100%

There are many students with multiple offers (even that may be above 5).
 Let us see an example, 
    Let us assume a college which have 200         students. In placement session, 100                 students got 2 offers and rest of the 100         got no offer.
    Actual Placement percentage:                             (100/200)*100% = 50%
    Placement percentage given by colleges:
      ((100*2)/200)*100%= 100%

I hope you understood the difference. Considering above points in mind, Following Rankings have been done and acual placement percentages have been given. 
Note that following rankings have been done on overall basis and not on placement basis.
